Objective

The student understands the meaning of the integral of a function graphically and algebraically on own fields applications.

The student is able to use differential and intregral calculus in his or her subsequent studies in physics, chemistry, biology and professional studies, and in subsequent courses in mathematics.

4) applications of differential and integral calculus
5) computer labs

Qualifications

Basics in Engineering Mathematics, Equations and Matrices, Functions and Derivatives

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1) The student is able to use numerical methods in differentiation and integration

2) The student is able to apply the basic rules of differentiation and integration to simple functions. The student is able to interpret the derivative and the integral of a function graphically.

5) The student takes part in the computer classes and carries out the given exercises acceptably.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

2&3) The student is able to apply integrals and differentiating in simple problems of his or her own field. The student is also able to assess the sensibility and correctness of a result obtained by him or her. The student is able to recognize derivatives and integrals appearing in physical, chemical or biological phenomena.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

4) The student is able to model phenomena where the modeling requires the use of differential calculus.
