Objective

On completion of the course, the students are able to use English in certain communication situations familiar to working life. For instance, they are able to plan, prepare and act in English both in small teams and independently. They know how to search for business articles for personal learning interests and also write short summaries of them, and they can explain and discuss the articles with the other students. They are able to arrange and confirm an appointment by e-mail, using a style, tone and level of politeness appropriate to business correspondence. The students are also able to write a short report on a chosen business topic and produce research material for the report through interviews. In addition, they are able to put together and give a short, professional presentation of the key learnings on this course.

Qualifications

The students need to be able to use English to communicate about general topics. Grades from English courses: no lower than 7.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to communicate comprehensibly in English in business communication situations included in the course. The student understands the special nature of professional communication and what it requires to improve professional English communication skills. The student has completed and passed all the course assignments.
