Objective

After completing the course, students can explain the basics of low energy construction methods in new and renovatied buildings and the effects of different factors to the energy consumption of the building. The student has gained an overall picture of future energy solutions and related basic techniques and constraints both from the domestic and the global perspective (production, transfer, storage, climate change).

Content

Low energy construction (2 ECTS): influence of different factors to the energy efficiency of a building.
Energy production in future (3 ECTS): centralized CHP based power solutions, decentralized, renewable energy production, intelligent energy transmission networks, energy storing

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student recognizes the basic concepts and theories related to the course and is able to solve the simple tasks associated with them. He or she can use the tools and methods presented during the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to the above, the student can explain the basic concepts and theories related to the course and know how to apply them in solving more extensive tasks. He / she is able to use the tools and methods presented during the course.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the foregoing, the student is able to solve the most demanding tasks requiring analysis or justification on a nearly error-free level. He / she is able to further develop the tools and methods presented in the course.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
