ConcertLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The student is able to prepare a stylistically varied concert repertoire, taking into account the special characteristics of pop/jazz music. The student is able to be responsible for selecting the repertoire in cooperation with their teacher as well as for putting together, leading and rehearsing the band and is also able to take care of the practical arrangements of the show. The student has good project management and interaction skills.

Qualifications

Instrumental Studies 1-3 courses or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to get an approved grade, the student
- has organized a concert for which they together with their instrument teacher have selected a repertoire of high level, put together and rehearsed a band and taken care of the practical arrangements of the concert
- has demonstrated artistically and stylistically versatile skills in the concert with their own instrument
- is able to work as a member of a band and to communicate their own musical visions
- is capable of using musical expressions typical of the selected repertoire and instrument.
