Objective
The student
- understands the basic methods of nuclear medicine and knows the preparation and safe use of radiopharmaceuticals
- understands the operating principles of isotope equipment
- knows the range of usage of most common examinations and interventions
- is able to take part carrying out most common examinations and interventions in a customer-oriented way and applies the principles of radiation protection and quality assurance when working with isotopes
- knows the structure and functioning principles of the vascular system, urine excretion system and the lymphatic system
Content
Radioactive scattering, radiant energy and radiopharmaceuticals
The operating principles of a gamma camera, positron emission tomography and fusion imaging and the principles of examination analyses
Applicability and implementation of nuclear medicine examinations and interventions
Principles and administration of isotope treatment
Safe use of radiopharmaceuticals, patient doses and their assessment, reference levels
Evaluation of radiation risk and explaining this understandably to the patient
Radiation safety and quality assurance
