Introduction to Japanese Language & CultureLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

In this course the participants will be given opportunities to learn the beginning level of practical Japanese for conversation, and to experience some aspects of modern Japanese culture, through watching movies. Selected movies will be shown in the class session, including the ones produced by Hayao Miyazaki. The course is an introductory one and is suitable for those who plan to study abroad in Japan in the future, or for those who are simply interested in modern Japanese culture.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

-Attendance and class activities 60%
-Homework 20%
-Presentation with a group on the last day of the course 20%

Course materials will be distributed to the participants in the first lesson of the course.
