Objective
The students are able to draft the documents that are needed for design, use and maintenance for heating, water and sewage, air conditioning and cooling systems in commercial buildings using the most common application programs. They can read technical documents of building automation system and draft plan drawings for the building automation system. They can explain the typical roles of building services project group members and have basic abilities to act in those roles.
The students are able to compare the solutions in regards to the energy and economic efficiency.
The students are able to analyze a communication situation and communicate accordingly. They are able to act in multicultural environments taking into account the special characteristics of communication situations and the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the participants. They are to give a short presentation in Swedish.
Content
Languages and communication (4 ECTS): Finnish and English communication and interaction in project groups and projects: spoken project communication, project documents and project informing. Meetings and negotiations and their documents. Accumulating and activating professional terminology in Swedish and professional essential interaction situations: individual and group communication.
Designing the water and waste water, heating, ventilation/air conditioning and cooling systems using programs and building information models.
Applying the energy calculation and simulation tools in designing building service systems.

The students are able to draft the documents that are needed for design, use and maintenance for heating, water and sewage, air conditioning and cooling systems in commercial buildings using the most common application programs.
The students are able to recognize the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course and are able to solve simple problems.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In addition to above, the students are able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to simple problems in natural and technical sciences.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The students are able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to more demanding problems in natural and technical sciences.
