Objective

After completion of this course the student will be able to dimension piping, select and dimension an appropriate pump for a certain flow problem. The student knows the basic principles of compressors and vacuum systems.
The student will be able to understand functioning of heat exchangers and evaporators.
The student can apply the calculation procedure of mass and energy balances for practical problems.
The student is able to dimension the heat exchangers and evaporators

2. pressure drop in channel flow, flow and PI diagrams and standards included

1. The student recognizes basics of dimensioning of heat exchangers and evaporators.
2. The student is able to analyze pressure drop in common channel flow situations and choose a suitable pump or blower.
3. The student recognizes basics of dimensioning of heat exchangers and evaporators.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student is able to solve basic dimensioning of heat exchangers and evaporators.
2. The student is able to analyze pressure drop in common channel flow systems and choose a suitable pump or blower in an economically optimal manner.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student understands and is able to solve complicated problems in the field of fluid mechanics, thermal conduction, convection and thermal radiation.
2. The student is able to solve dimensioning of heat exchangers and evaporators in applied conditions.

2. The student is able to analyze pressure drop in common channel flow situations and choose a suitable pump or blower.
