Objective
Students
- describe service provision in primary health care, including its operating environments, and the significance of sampling activities carried out in the health care sector
- function as members of a working community
- refer clients individually for sampling and patient examinations
- act in a client-centred manner
- take, handle, preserve and dispatch laboratory samples to a high quality standard
- are able to carry out sample tests and patient examinations performed in primary health care
- work safely, aseptically and ergonomically and protect clients’ privacy - assess their own professional development and areas for operational improvement and develop their interaction, guidance and counselling and working community skills
Content
Key tests in primary health care; guidance and counselling of clients in examinations; collection, preparation, preservation and dispatch of samples; functioning in a working community, occupational and patient safety, privacy protection.

Prerequisites:
Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology and Safety culture in health care; Pre-analytics and Basics of Natural Science and methods in Laboratory Work
