Objective

Students are able to create a confidential relationship with the patient. They can interview patients and prepare patient documents. Students know how to observe patient’s erect position and assess posture. They can instruct active movements of the spine to the patient. Students are capable of examining patient’s spine passively and also examining the thorax from the aspect of respiration. They can demonstrate a clear and concise patient case study to their practice supervisor using professional terminology as well as carry out an osteopathic working diagnosis under supervision. Students observe their peer students’ work with patients in small groups and appreciate the dissemination of knowledge. They are also able to take responsibility for their group’s learning and share the acquired knowledge. Students understand the significance of good relationship with patients for succeeding with the treatment. They know how to plan and implement small-scale marketing and take part in various client service activities.
First aid:
Students know how to act in situations threatening general safety, accidents and attacks of illnesses. They are capable of administering first aid to injured or acute patients. Students are competent in basic life support.

Content

Observing more experienced osteopathy students. Interview skills. Observation skills. Palpation skills. Examination routines. Analysis of posture. Working at the reception. Cooperation skills. Self-reflection.
First aid:
First aid with and without first aid kit. Use of first aid equipment and medicines in acute situations.
