Objective

Students are able to describe the characteristics of healthy feet and lower limbs and detect changes in them when assessing clients of various ages. They are familiar with the characteristics of healthy skin and healthy nails and apply this knowledge to the assessment of clients. Students are aware of the relation between health of the feet and genetics, age and illnesses and apply this knowledge to the assessment of their clients’ feet. They are familiar with the coordination of podiatric services and can counsel their clients on the suitable treatment. Students are aware of the health benefits of walking barefoot and can counsel clients on safe barefoot walking. Students are able to describe the subcategories of self-care of the feet so that they can apply them to the modification of clients’ self-care habits. They are familiar with the selection of self-care products in the pharmacies and stores to the extent of being able to recommend suitable products for their clients’ needs. Students can recommend appropriate shoes and stockings for different client groups for different purposes. They are familiar with shoes manufactured for different use and purposes and know how to assist clients in acquiring them. They master the objectives of foot exercises and are able to instruct clients in diverse exercises to reach these objectives. Students can describe the effects of traditional footbaths on the foot health and justify their use to clients. They are able to describe the treatment methods for hyperperspiration and can use iontoforesis as a form of treatment.
