Analytical Methods in Environmental ResearchLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student knows the principles of sample preparation and analytical methods used the research of air, water and soil. He/she is able to do sampling and measurements and is able to recognize the weaknesses and strengths of different methods. The student can also develop new analytical methods.

Content

1. Use of modern methods and techniques.
2. Search of methods in literature and applying them in practice.
3. Development of new solutions and problem solving.

1. The student understands manuals, but needs guidance to operate instruments.
2. The student can search relevant literature but is not able to apply the information to practice without guidance.
3. The student can solve problems and develop methods under guidance.

1. The student understands manuals and is able to operate instruments and to do sample preparation. The student understands the fundamentals of instruments and sample preparation.
2. The student can search relevant literature and apply the information to practice.
3. The student can solve problems and develop methods with some guidance.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student understands manuals and is able to operate instruments and do sample preparation. The student understands fundamentals of instruments and sample preparation and is able to apply hes/her knowledge.
2. The student can search relevant literature and apply the information to practice. The student can develop methods without guidance.
3. The students can solve problems and develop methods independently.
