2. Sample preparation techniques
3. Analysis, equipment maintenance and reporting

Qualifications

TB00AB04 Basics of Chromatography

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Student
1. knows the most common parameters related to chromatographic separation and is able to calculate them
2. knows the different sample preparation techniques and is able to prepare the sample according to the instructions.
3. knows how to make measurements on the basis of instructions and prepare suitable dilutions and stock solutions and dilutions of the calibration solutions. Student is able to interpret his/her results. The report has the same structure as the model and it contains all the required issues. The results are reported with the right accuracy.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student
1. understands the most common chromatographic separation of parameters associated with the ability to influence the separation.
2. understands the importance of different sample praparation stages of the analysis result.
3. works carefully and purposefully doing the measurements and is able to make any conclusions independently. The report has the same structure as the model and it contains all the required issues. The results are reported with the right accuracy.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student
1. is able to apply her/his knowledge of the chromatographic separation parameters into practice.
2. is able to critically examine the different sample preparation techniques, their advantages and disadvantages.
3. works independently and in a goal-oriented manner and shows initiative. S/he is able to plan and schedule the work intelligently. The laboratory notebook includes all the necessary information. The language used in the report and the discussion of the results are excellent. The results include a reliable estimate of measurement uncertainty.
