Objective

The student deepens his/her skills in keyboard harmony and improvisation. He/she knows how to practice, organize and analyze music by ear. He/she gets acquainted with the repertoire of various styles and genres or alternatively he/she may focus on a specific repertoire which is essential in his/her future music profession.

Content

The student gets acquainted with the fundamentals of playing by ear; he/she gets familiar with tonal and modal harmony and learns how to modify harmony. He/she practices improvising in different contexts. The student learns to construct music and studies historical phenomena of rhythm and structure.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

A performance that meets the minimum criteria, but no more. The candidate demonstrates a very limited degree of judgement and independent thinking.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

A good performance in most areas. The candidate demonstrates a reasonable degree of judgement and independent thinking in the most important areas.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

An excellent performance, clearly outstanding. The candidate demonstrates excellent judgement and a high degree of independent thinking.
