Objective

A student with a capability to arrange can write and construct music in its various roles. He/she is familiar with the conceptual differences of arranging popular and classical music.He/she can arrange to different ensembles and knows how to create structure and balance in music. The student also knows professional vocabulary and symbols of both classical and popular music. He/she can notate and rehearse his/her works.

Content

The student participates in lectures and arranges given pieces of music to different ensembles constructed of the arranging class. He/she also conducts and rehearses the written works during the classes. The student can replace some of the given arrangement tasks with other works.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

A performance that meets the minimum criteria, but no more. The candidate demonstrates a very limited degree of judgement and independent thinking.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

A good performance in most areas. The candidate demonstrates a reasonable degree of judgement and independent thinking in the most important areas.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

An excellent performance, clearly outstanding. The candidate demonstrates excellent judgement and a high degree of independent thinking.
