Music AnalysisLaajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

The students will know the fundamentals of the musical compositions (know the basic principles of the musical materials and the different factors of music) in different stylistic contexts. The students will know the most common musical forms and their structural principles of the different periods (c. 1600-1900), such as fugue, sonata, rondo, symphony, and concerto. The students will be able to describe works of the type mentioned above by writing, to discuss basic concepts of music analysis with common professional terminology, and to independently familiarize themselves with literature.
