Objective

The objectives are to strengthen and deepen the student’s skills and knowledge in applied mathematics, statistics, design of experiments, and in computational and other data management techniques. Depending on the subject of the project, the student learns also new methodology.

Content

1. The most common methods of applied mathematics, statistics, design of experiments, in research and development projects.
2. The most common software tools used in the methodology listed in item 1.
3. The computational methods and data management techniques used in the student’s own innovation project.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is able to list the most common methods of applied mathematics, statistics, design of experiments, applicable in research and development projects.
2. The student is able to list the most common software tools used in the methodology listed in item 1.
3. The student is able to apply at least one aforementioned method and software tool in his or her own project.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student is able to choose the methods that are applicable to his or her own project.
2. The student is able to store the data of his or her own project into an easily manageable form using some software.
3. The student is able to interpret the results that he or she has obtained by using the chosen methods or techniques.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student is able to use more than one method in his or her project.
2. The student is able transform the data of his or her project into different forms according to the requirements of the software chosen.
3. The student is able to visualize and report his or her results, obtained using the chosen methodology, in a logical and clear way.
