Objective

The student will be familiar with the basic concepts related to the highway network and traffic, as well as different traffic forms. The student will be familiar with the principles of sizing and planning traffic facilities.

Content

The government and legislation of highways, levels of planning. Basic concepts in traffic engineering. The technical basis of highway design. The basics of road and street geometry. Consideration of the environment and landscape in highway design. The contents of the road and street plan.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to plan a simple highway in a natural state land according to instructions.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply the above listed, learned knowledge and skills independently.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to give reasons for his or her choices related to the course contents in a comprehensive manner.
