Clinical practice of clinical procedures in radiographic imagingLaajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

The students can plan and evaluate radiological interventions in a customer-oriented way. The students can use the equipment safely. The students know how to act in an emergency care situation and apply their clinical treatment skills in patient care, and understand the significance of multiprofessional cooperation. The students are also be able to apply their knowledge in topographic anatomy, physiology and clinical physics in carrying out examinations and therapeutic procedures in a safe way in terms of radiation.

Content

Care and monitoring of critically ill patient under premedication
Emergency care and in-hospital resuscitation in connection with contrast media imaging
Patient monitoring and supervision, ECG interpretation
Resuscitation medicine
Taking and handling of samples
Training and evaluation of contrast media examinations and endovascular examination process.
Control of tools and equipment used in interventions
Patient care
Examinations and interventions as part of overall customer care

Practical training of imaging principles and examinations, and advanced imaging examinations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students can work as part of a team in the commonest radiological interventions either under guidance or independently. They deepen their skills in radiation protection in radiological operating environments.
In training taking place at the UAS, the students can plan an endovascular examination or intervention process and assess it in a customer-oriented way. The students know how to use the tools and equipment used in such interventions in a safe way. Moreover, the students know how to use emergency care medication and recognise the commonest heart rhythms and arrhythmia. The students deepen their skills of how to act in an emergency care situation and apply their clinical treatment skills in patient care, and understand the significance of multiprofessional cooperation.
