Objective

Core Contents:
Stage technology systems, safety on stage, logistics of live performance productions, and stage technology documentation.

Students know the relevant equipment, their technical qualities, what they can be used for, operating principles and special requirements relating to flying. Students know how to use stage technology systems. They know how to draw up and interpret set design documentation. Students know the safety risks inherent in stage technology systems and they can take them into consideration when using the systems. They are able to use and apply these skills when working in the technical crew of a live performance.

Content

The course covers the stage technology systems as a whole and the parts of all stage technology systems, operating consoles, set structures, machinary, revolving stage and flying. Students are introduced to alternative stage solutions. They learn to use stage technology in live performance productions and know the requirements and possibilities of stage technology. The course covers the symbols and notation used in set design documents. Students learn to use the information of set design documents to define the time, space and staff requirements in setting up and striking a live production and to do set design documentation in Finnish and English.

The course comprises lectures, practical assignments and work experience. English skills are learned during the Professional English course.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.
