Objective

Core Contents:
History of Western theatre, performance spaces and practices of performance engineering. Students know the main phases of the history of Western theatre from Antiquity to the present day. Students are familiar with the performance practices, styles, performance spaces as well as practices of set design and performance engineering in different eras. Students are also aware of the main developments and form of opera, contemporary dance and performance art.

Content

The course covers the birth and evolvement of Western theatre, opera and ballet, the main turning points and characteristics of different eras from the perspectives of art history, theatre architecture and set design. The course includes lectures and practical assignments. Part of the course may be carried out as e-learning.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.
