Objective

After completing the study unit, students are able to explain the main concepts, approaches and premises of health promotion. They know how to apply client- and resource-oriented health discussion to support their clients. Students can describe the change process of changing lifestyle and give examples on it. They are able to utilise various materials and data in education promoting health in a client-oriented way. Students identify the health challenges of the population and know how to describe demographic differences in health. They know methods to meet the major health challenges of the population. Students can name the most central laws to promote public health and explain the main strategies as well as national and international programmes.

Content

After completing the study unit, students are able to explain the main concepts, approaches and premises of health promotion. describe the change process related to lifestyle change to some extent.
use client- and resource-oriented health discussion in supporting client’s health change.
utilise health promotion materials and data in education.
identify public health challenges and demographic health differences to some extent.
choose methods to meet the major health challenges of the population.
name some central laws related to public health promotion and explain strategies as well as national and international programmes to some extent.

use appropriately client- and resource-oriented health discussion in supporting client’s health change.

choose appropriate methods to meet the major health challenges of the population.
name most of the central laws related to public health promotion and explain the strategies as well as national and international programmes.

Student is able to
explain the core concepts, approaches and premises of health promotion in a versatile way.
describe the phases of the change process related to lifestyle change entirely and provide examples on them.
use client- and resource-oriented health discussion appropriate for the occasion when supporting the client in the change process.
utilise health promotion materials and data in health promotion education appropriate for the occasion.
identify public health challenges and demographic health differences.
choose appropriate methods for the occasion to meet the major health challenges of the population.
name comprehensively the central laws related to public health promotion and explain the strategies as well as national and international programmes in a versatile way.
