Moving ImageLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

The students will learn to make animation with drawing and image editing software. The students will become familiar with the basics of using moving image in a digital environment.

The students will learn the key concepts of cinematic storytelling and the theory of editing. The students will learn about the commonest digital video file and distribution formats and to use them meaningfully in their own productions.

The students will learn to use a digital video camera or other digital recording devices specified for the course. The students will learn to transfer the recorded material into the editing environment and to use digital image editing tools for videos and stop motion animation.

Content

- Animation in web and multimedia environments
- Stop motion animation
- Picture sizes, film manuscript and basics of cinematic storytelling
- Shooting with a digital video camera, editing and file formats.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Student has command of core course content and tools and programs used. Student passes the assignments. Student participates actively in classes.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to the satisfatory level student has completed course assignments in time and with good quality.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the good level student is able to apply the skills acquired and has completed course assignments with excellent quality.
