Course unit code: SG00AA16

General information

Credits
9 ECTS

Objective

Students recognise how the models and frameworks of occupational therapy are used in support of interventions to structure individual clients’ situations and occupational therapy processes. They are familiar with one model and a few frameworks. Students know how to combine knowledge from behavioural, biological and medical sciences with assessment and promotion of occupational performance. They are able to set objectives together with each client to promote their occupational performance, in particular in terms of occupations relating to self-care, instrumental activities of daily living and play. Students understand the role of occupational analysis and synthesis when modifying everyday occupations and local environments to match clients’ occupational functioning. Together with each client, they identify occupations that may be used therapeutically. They learn further occupational forms. Students recognise how psychosocial, physical and technical solutions (such as guidance for family and friends, assistive devices and environmental alterations) can be used to promote clients’ occupational performance. They know how to prepare static orthoses. They provide examples of how solutions implemented are justified on the basis of experience, expertise and scientific knowledge. Students are able to explain the meaning and methods of continuous assessment. They are aware of how achievement of the objectives of occupational therapy is assessed, how the results are reported and how justified further recommendations are made.
