Objective
Students know how to define palpation as part of the diagnostic procedure. They are able to show the bony landmarks of the body. Students are able to describe the findings obtained by means of palpation. They understand the meaning of touch in manual work. Students are able to recall different tissue types and palpate them. Students can palpate the pulses of the upper and lower extremities. They act according to professional ethics in their work with patients.
Content
Palpation as part of diagnostics. Documenting findings. Bony landmarks of the body. Tissue types. Skin and fascia. Pulses. Significance of palpation to osteopaths’ profession. Meaning of touch and ethics in manual treatment. Use of slinth and positioning patient. The course includes 2 cr of clinical practice.
