Objective

The students are able to discuss and describe current, future and past events related to their own life, work, studies, and travel. They understand and are able to compose instructions, wishes and requests. They understand simple texts about Japanese culture and travel. They can read and write the 160 most common Kanji characters. The students are able to perceive Japanese cultural and social phenomena as a part of their cultural context and can, when necessary, challenge prevailing stereotypical views.

Content

The students practise grammatical structures, characters, and listening comprehension, and participate in communicative exercises in pairs and small groups. They get familiar with contemporary Japanise society by analyzing and discussing it.

Qualifications

Japanese 2 or equivalent knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can read and write 50% of the most common Kanji characters. The student can participate in conversations using simple sentences and can express things relating to his or her own life, work, study and travel.
