Pre-Production of a Documentary Film ProjectLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The students understand the documentary as a genre. The students learn the pre-planning of the documentary film as well as the related tasks and assignments as parts of the documentary film making. They can produce a script and write a production plan for a short documentary film. The students can also successfully present their project. Finally, the students comprehend ethical aspects related to the documentary film making.

The students can create ideas, study background material and, subsequently, write a short documentary film (scriptwriting).
The students can plan the direction, shooting, and editing of a short documentary film.
The students can plan the recording for a short documentary film. The students also learn how to master the voice and the basics of studio work with respect to audio post-production (sound).
The students can produce a short documentary film (production)
