Objective

On completion of the course the student will possess the basic information of how HVAC engineering systems are implemented. The student will be able to describe the major installation methods and explain how they are applied to HVAC/R systems.

The student will be able to perform the basic HVAC installations and to calculate the need for materials for the installation.

Content

Installation methods for piping, ventilation and refrigeration systems. Materials, supplies and jointing methods. Support and compensation. Equipment connections. Implementation of piping, ventilation and refrigeration systems in connection to other building services systems.

Calculations of quantities for HVAC systems.

The student recognizes the most common installation methods and is able to select equipment and implement minor HVAC installations according to instructions. In addition, the student is able to evaluate the amount of material needed in installation work.

The student is familiar with the most common installation methods and is able to select equipment and implement minor HVAC installations. In addition, the student is able to evaluate the amount of material needed in installation work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is familiar with the most common installation methods and is able to select equipment and implement minor HVAC installations independently. In addition, the student is familiar with the basics of determining quantities.
