Leadership in Technology Business (e)Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

After the course the student understands the differences between management and leadership. He/she can use the basic processes of leading a business from strategy to daily operations, and leading performance. He/she understands how people get motivated, inspired and committed. The student can use simple processes for leading change and innovativeness, developing competence and methods of sharing knowledge.

Accomplishment

The course contains theme-specific hands-on exercises during the classes. In addition students prepare in teams of two a small study on a leadership theme and present the paper to the class. The study should contain a theoretical part and a small practical part describing how the main issues of the theme are implemented by some technology companies.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- 50 % of hands-on exercises are completed.
- The leadership paper is based only on one source and has only a theoretical part.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- 75 % of hands-on exercises are completed.
- The paper is based on several sources. Only a few practical examples.
- Clear presentation to the class.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- All exercises are completed.
- The paper is based on a variety of relevant sources. Several practical examples.
- Good presentation to the class.
