Objective
The student understands linear and exponential analogue modulation methods, sampling and pulse code modulation (PCM) and analogue communication system principles
Content
Bandpass signals and systems, Linear CW modulation: AM, DSB, SSB and VSB and related modulator principles and spectra, Exponential CW modulation: Frequency and Phase modulation, related modulator principles and spectra. Sampling and pulse modulation (PCM) theory. Analogue communication systems: Receivers for Linear CW and Exponential modulation, Multiplexing systems: Frequency division multiplexing (FDM), Time division multiplexing (TDM), phase locked loop theory. Random signals and noise and its effect on telecommunication systems.
