Objective

On completion of the course the student will be able to select a foundation type for a building and will be familiar with the main sectors of foundation engineering. The student will be able to draw up a foundation plan for a building project according to instructions.

Content

The student will get acquainted with foundation works and will be able to design and control the most important foundation structures of buildings. In addition, the student will recognize the usual risks of foundation works and will know the quality control methods.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to select a foundation type for a building and is familiar with the main sectors of foundation engineering. The student is able to draw up a foundation plan for a building project according to instructions (foundation type, drainage structures, frost protection).

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply the above listed, learned knowledge and skills independently.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to give reasons for his or her choices related to the course contents in a comprehensive manner.
