Objective

The student is expected to know
- the regulations concerning fire safety of buildings and structures
- the fire properties of different materials
- the fire protective mechanisms of fire redardant paints and other fire retardants
- the safety and environmental effects of fire retardants
- experimental methods for studying the fire properties of materials and the effects of retardants

- define the need of fire protection and the proper protection method
- perform the fire protection design of steel structures by pc-programs
- study the properties of fire retardants
