Application of generators. Generator selection, operation and service procedures.

Content

Synchronous generator structure and basic theory: equivalent circuit, electromotive force, armature reaction, stable and unstable operation, synchronizing to electrical network, load sharing, isolated operation. Per unit values and calculations. Overload and overcurrent protection. Service procedures. Asynchronous machine as generator.

Core studies. Previous lessons of Electric Machines: transformers and motors.
