Objective
Students are familiar with requirements set for vision in different work assignments and occupations and know how to apply their knowledge when solving visual problems, considering the age and operating environment of each individual client. They are capable of determining the correct lens power and type for working glasses based on the working environment and assignments.
During the course, students acquire capabilities to understand the qualifying conditions specified in legislation for compensation for special spectacles for work. Students acquaint themselves with eye protection and are familiar with the standards of protective eyewear appropriate for different work assignments both in terms of lenses and frames.
Students understand the significance of vision screening as a form of an Optometrist's work and know how to plan, implement and report on vision screening.
Content
Vision requirements for different occupational groups, the Decree on Driving Licences (845/1990), vision requirements of the Defence Forces, significance of leisure interests in terms of refractions, qualifying criteria for and legislation on compensation for special occupational spectacles, protective eyewear standards.
Planning, implementing and reporting on vision screening.
