Objective

Student will deepen his/her knowledge on the neurological diseases of human locomotion system and their effects to the functional capasity.
Student will learn different types of orthoses and their purpose of use.
Student will train to design and fabricate individual orthoses.
Student will learn to estimate how the structural and functional damages effect to the human functional capasity and will be able to use facts in the prescription of device.
Student will train to motivate client in using of his/her own capasity and instruct client and his/her immediate surroundings - together with other rehabilitation and nursing staff - in the issues connected to the use of a device.

Content

Most common diseases and functional deficiences where orthoses are needed.
Orthoses of the upper limb, trunk and lower limb.
Types of orthoses, structures and most common components; and factors influencing to the prescription.
Assessment and Measurements
Fabrication process and technics
Fitting, evaluation and follow-up of the orthoses
