Music Production 4Laajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

The student gains familiarity with the structures of production and the stages of its progress from the producer's point of view through lectures, guest speakers and their own practice production projects. The student learns to influence production content by working on song structure, melodic, harmonic, rhythmic and chordal elements, and on issues related to lyrics. The student learns to influence the artistic and interpretational expression of vocal and instrumental performances in order to achieve his/her own productional vision.

Content

- Designing and executing productions in the studio environment under guidance, moving from small-scale (small ensembles) to larger projects (large pops/jazz/fusion orchestras, big bands, choirs)
- Rearranging student compositions and working with lyrics
- Producer/engineer/arranger/lyricist guest speakers
