Early Childhood Music Education 3Laajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

The student learns to know general and musical development of children from 5 to 6 years of age and is able to apply his/her knowledge to music education for 5-6 year olds.
He/she learns to know music playgroup activies (children from 5 to 6 years) and instrument teaching in a group, objectives, contents and methods of the activities and musical education methods and their developers.
He/she learns to observe the child's behaviour and assess his/her level of development and to plan and direct activities in accordance with the individual development needs and development levels of children
He/she knows the objectives, contents and methods of music education and is able to apply them to a gradually progressing totality of music playschool activities for children of different ages.

Content

The course includes general and musical development studies of children from 5 to 6 years of age, music play group activities, objectives of the activities, contents and methods of musical education. The student gains knowledge of the latest developments in early childhood music education by means of lectures, demonstrations, exercises, excursions and literature selected by the teacher, as well as through visiting specialists in different fields.
