Objective

In this compulsory scriptwriting course students will enhance their skills in film analysis acquired in the Introduction to cinematic expression courses. Students analyse feature films to improve their understanding of drama and gain improved resources for film analysis. The course includes watching films, discussions and essay analyses of fictional feature films.

Content

A case analysis of a feature film, understanding of the internal structure of films
Searching, finding and analysing different ways of reading a film and different layers of a film.
Character driven, theme driven and plot driven films.
Linear vs. non-linear films.

Qualifications

Accepted completion of Introduction to cinematic expression 1 and 2.
