Practical Applications and TestingLaajuus (2 cr)
Course unit code: TX00GJ40
General information
- Credits
- 2 cr
Objective
The student will be able to program and test the autonomous operation of drones in a physical environment. They will be able to integrate sensors, perform data collection and analyse the performance of drones under different conditions. The student will carry out a mini-project in which a drone autonomously performs a predefined task.
Content
1. Drone programming and autonomous control
2. Mini project: autonomous drone application
Qualifications
Practical Applications and Testing (2 ECTS) requires completion of previous courses in drone technology or equivalent. Students should be proficient in the basics of route planning, the use of positioning systems and sensors to control drones, and the use of programming environments to develop autonomous drone applications.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The Student
• can use drone programming environments and perform basic flights.
• performs a simple autonomous flight task with the given parameters.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The Student
• can program and test autonomous flight planning and navigation.
• develops and tests an autonomous drone application independently according to defined objectives.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The Student
• can optimise and develop autonomous control of drones and improve performance in different environments.
• will design and implement an innovative drone application with advanced navigation and environment analysis.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Practical Applications and Testing (2 ECTS) is passed if the student can program and test the autonomous operation of a drone in a physical environment and carry out a mini-project in which the drone autonomously performs a given task. Successful completion requires the student to test the system and document the results. Failure means that the student is unable to use the drone programming environment, fails to perform an autonomous flight task, or leaves documentation incomplete.
Further information
Practical applications and testing (2 ECTS) is carried out as a laboratory work and a mini-project in which students program and test physical drones. The course requires active participation and independent work. In the mini-project, the drone independently performs a planned task, and students document and analyse the results.
