Road Design and ConstructionLaajuus (10 cr)

Objective

After the course, the student knows the basics of road design and knows the design process. The student understands the content and purpose of different plans. In addition, the student knows the background for design needs and how to define the construction method so that principles of sustainable development are taken into account already in the design phase. The stundet is able to implement a road or street construction project independently with the help of plans and understands the purpose of the final documents to be handed over to the customer.

- Plan levels and design starting material
- Key design guidelines for road and street structures
- Road geometry and cross-section design
- Drawing up a plan with a planning program
- The possibilities of digitization in planning and construction
- Consideration of other structures related to fairways in planning and construction (traffic control, water supply, cables, etc.)
- Construction of roads and bridges based on plans, taking the environment into account
- Construction quality assurance and documentation

Earthworks, Infrastucture base structures, Dimensioning of structures and geotechnical calculations in road projects
