Objective

Upon completion of the course, the student
• is able to analyse the causes of fatigue and damage in materials, select an appropriate non-destructive method for different material testing and investigation needs, and interpret the results of fatigue testing and damage investigation methods
• is able to predict the service life of materials based on fatigue and damage mechanisms, apply damage analysis results to support design and material selection, and evaluate the reliability and safety of different material solutions in industrial applications.

Content

• Fatigue mechanisms and methods of analysis
• Non-destructive testing
• Failure mechanisms and failure prevention
• Life cycle predictions and reliability analyses
• Case studies and industrial applications
