Objective

Upon completion of the course, the student
• is able to explain the structure of polymer and composite materials and their effects on material properties, describe the manufacturing methods of polymer and composite products and their applications, interpret test results of polymer and composite materials and products and compare different material options
• is able to evaluate the use of polymers and composites from the point of view of durability and performance, and apply testing methods to assess the quality of materials.

• Structure and properties of polymeric materials
• Polymer processing techniques (injection molding, extrusion)
• Manufacture and use of composite materials
• Mechanical and physical testing

The student
• has achieved the objectives of the course to a satisfactory level

The student
• has achieved the objectives of the course well, although there are still areas where knowledge and skills need to be improved
• has a good understanding of the concepts and models of the subject matter of the course and is able to carry out a reasoned analysis
• is able to apply what they have learned in learning and working life situations
• understands the importance of expertise in the field and is able to analyse their own expertise.
