Objective

Workplace skills and professional development
The student will be able to:
- act in accordance with occupational therapy practices, guidelines and legislation
- act professionally, ethically, and safely in the placement setting
- take responsibility for their own learning by using guidance
- analyse strengths and areas for development in their occupational therapy competence during the work placement and for post-placement learning.

Occupational therapy
The student will be able to:
- design a client-centred occupational therapy process (individual, group, and/or community)
- implement a client-centred occupational therapy process (individual, group, and/or community)
- set goals in collaboration with the client (individual, group, and/or community)
- utilise occupational therapy theories and other evidence-based knowledge in client’s occupational therapy process
- draw conclusions about factors affecting the client’s occupational performance
- plan and analyse the occupational therapy relationship
- justify their decisions and solutions to various stakeholders at different stages of the occupational therapy process.

Content

Evidence-based practice
Job description and related tasks, independently and in a team
Planning and implementation of client processes in various occupational therapy settings
Justification of professional actions throughout the different phases of the occupational therapy process
Goal setting

Qualifications

Before taking this course, the student must have successfully completed at least 85 ECTS, including the courses Interpretation and Reporting of Assessment Data in Occupational Therapy, Assistive Devices and Environmental Modifications in Occupational Therapy, Work Placement for Occupational Therapists 2, Factors Influencing the Occupational Therapy Relationship, and Occupational Therapy Intervention.

Further information

The degree in occupational therapy includes four work placements for occupational therapists, totalling 40 ECTS. The students are instructed to choose placements that are as diverse as possible from each other (WFOT minimum standards). The students are responsible for finding their own placements.
