Objective

Workplace skills and professional development
The student will be able to:
- identify aspects related to occupational therapy practices, guidelines, and legislation governing client work
- recognise workplace-specific and general workplace rules as well as the ethical principles of occupational therapy
- identify personal learning goals for the work placement and post-placement learning
- express the need for supervision to support their development.

Occupational therapy
The student will be able to:
- recognise occupational therapy client processes from the perspective of an individual's occupational performance
- identify the client's goals
- apply theoretical knowledge to the planning and documentation of occupational therapy intervention processes
- implement goal-oriented therapeutic occupations/activities to enable the client's occupational performance
- identify the impact of the environment on the client's occupational performance
- recognise factors related to the formation of the therapeutic relationship
- communicate information gathered from the occupational therapy process both orally and in writing.

General rules and practices
Occupational therapy practices, guidelines, legislation governing client work, and ethical principles of occupational therapy
Student’s learning objectives and use of supervision
Theoretical knowledge of occupational therapy
Client goals
Therapeutic occupation aligned with client goals
The impact of the environment on an individual's occupational performance
Factors related to the formation of an occupational therapy relationship and motivational interviewing
Oral and written reporting

Qualifications

Before taking the course, the student must have successfully completed at least 30 ECTS, including the courses Basics of Occupation in Occupational Therapy, Self-Awareness and Ethical Principles in the Occupational Therapy Relationship, Basics of Assessment in Occupational Therapy, and Professional in Social and Health Care.

Further information

The degree in occupational therapy includes four work placements for occupational therapists, totalling 40 ECTS. The students are instructed to choose placements that are as diverse as possible from each other (WFOT minimum standards). The students are responsible for finding their own placements. For the first placement, the student’s supervisor should be an occupational therapist.
