Oral hygiene of the elderlyLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

- organises and provides oral hygiene for elderly people in cooperation with the elderly people themselves and their family and/or nursing staff
- analyses and provides oral hygiene for patients of different ages at the Metropolia oral hygiene teaching clinic
- is able to take into account the patient's psychological and social factors when making a treatment plan, providing care and when planning maintenance care
- assesses the need for pain relief for each patient and is able to apply surface and local anesthesia
- is able to document the patient's treatment in the patient information system

Practical training:
Oral hygiene and health promotion of people of all ages at the oral hygiene teaching clinic, and treatment of patients on private clinics
