Objective

The student understands the importance of differential diagnostics as part of the clinical reasoning process and safe treatment of the client. The student understands the limits of their own responsibilities and the importance of consulting with other experts. The student can conduct and interpret differential diagnostic tests on different areas of the body and knows their area of application and reliability. The student understands that pathological and traumatic states place certain restrictions and contraindications on osteopathic treatment and learns to identify them as part of their interviewing and examination routine. The student identifies pain caused by neural tissue and viscerogenic pain and understands the restrictions they place on osteopathic treatment. The student knows how to conduct tests on neural tissue and knows their areas of application and reliability. The student knows the most common sports injuries. The student knows the risk factors and injury mechanisms and the various treatment possibilities, both conservative and surgical.

Content

• Stages of the clinical reasoning process
• Red and yellow flags
• Causes, symptoms and findings of the most common pain states in the limbs and torso
• Differential diagnostic tests on the joints in the limbs and interpreting their results
• Symptoms and findings of acute sports injuries
• Viscerogenic pain, its mechanism and symptoms
• The most common neural tissue tests and interpreting their results
• The most common acute sports injuries
• Preparing a prognosis and treatment plan

Functional anatomy in osteopathic clinical reasoning, Medical basics in the rehabilitation sector
