Objective

The student is able to use podiatry equipment and devices safely and appropriately. The student is able to apply high-quality asepsis in customer encounters. The student is familiar with the operating principles of equipment maintenance devices, being able to use them safely and ensuring high-quality equipment maintenance.

The student is able to choose suitable podiatry methods for skin and nail disorders and alterations and external applied medicines that support the treatment. The student is able to combine the treatment of skin and nail alterations as part of the customer's other podiatry services. The student is able to treat skin and nail alterations by mechanical means in an appropriate and safe way. The student is able to apply appropriate nail straightening methods with high quality. The student is able to apply various verruca treatment methods and utilise the potential of laser treatment in podiatry. The student is able to utilise the potential of podiatry in the treatment of a dermatology patient.

The student is able to describe the stages of a podiatry process and utilise them in the planning and implementation of podiatry. The student is aware of the health and medical record system and the obligation to keep a record, and is able to enter the necessary details in the customer information system. The student is able to make podiatry referrals and epicrisis entries to get a picture of the significance of multidisciplinary work as part of the holistic treatment of the customer. The student is able to define what ecological sustainability means and how it related to the work of a podiatrist.
