Objective

The student identifies the most common functional disabilities of the knee, hip and pelvic area, the differential diagnostics, and the principles of their rehabilitation. The student is able to apply joint mobilisation, therapeutic training and taping to promote the operation of the knee, hip and pelvic area. The student is able to apply their guidance skills with customer groups. The student is able to apply therapeutic training as part of the customer's daily activities.

The student is able to describe the therapeutic effects of massage, to provide massage and to apply massage as part of other aspects of podiatry. The student is able to provide physical therapy and is familiar with its therapeutic indications.

The student is able to provide a variety of pain relief methods for lower extremities. The student is able to describe the principles of pain epidemiology and to explain the basis of pain sensation and classification in a biopsychosocial frame of reference. The student is able to evaluate pain by a number of methods.

The student is familiar with child development at different ages and also the different stages of the human life. The student is able to describe changes in the human body with age and how they relate to functional capacity. The student is able to describe the most common deviations in lower extremities, positions and functions, and how they can be examined, rehabilitated and treated. The student is able to interact with customers of different ages. The student is able to select appropriate podiatry methods to support growth and development and the functional capacity of people of different ages.

The student is familiar with the most common injuries in the lower extremities that are treated by orthopedic means. The student is familiar with the main causes and symptoms of orthopedic and surgical problems and the principles of examination and treatment methods, and understands the significance of podiatry to support surgical treatment. The student is familiar with surgical treatment methods for injuries and malpositions of the lower extremities.

The student is able to describe the most common imaging methods and their indications. The student understands the basic principles of lower extremity imaging and findings.
