Objective

The student
• is able to guide and instruct patients in a client-centric manner in clinical physiology examinations and explain the pre-analytical factors associated with the examinations
• deepens their knowledge about the anatomy and physiology of the heart and blood circulation, lungs and airways, the digestive tract and the autonomous nervous system
• is able to explain the significance of clinical physiology examinations in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases
• is able to explain the physical principles of clinical physiology examination methods and devices
• complies with quality management principles when conducting clinical physiological examinations
• is able to perform a high-quality ECG registration, as well as registering the most common special leads
• is able to make a systematic interpretation of an ECG
• is able to measure blood pressure
• also knows the other common heart and blood circulation examinations and their purposes
• is able to perform a high-quality spirometry and PEF examination on a patient
• is able to describe the acceptance criteria for pulmonary function tests and identify sources of errors in them
• recognises the changes caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in spirometry test parameters
• also knows the other common pulmonary function tests
• is familiar with physiological examinations of the digestive tract and the autonomous nervous system.
