Objective

The student understand the purpose of clinical chemistry laboratory examinations in the diagnostics of human functions and monitoring of treatments. Is able to link key metabolic reactions and their regulatory systems with various clinical chemistry laboratory tests. Understands the clinical significance of examinations. Is able to carry out the most common clinical chemistry tests, and explain the principles of the methods used the measuring methods, and understands the relevant concepts. Is able to use and service clinical chemistry testing devices and identify the principles of automated working. Is able to recognise cells and particles in urine. Understands the significance of pre-analytics and quality in the laboratory testing process. Understands patient safety as part of clinical chemistry. Understand the principles of quality assurance and is able to act accordingly. Is able to explain and assess laboratory test results. Identifies the principles of sustainable development in laboratory work and is able to act accordingly in clinical chemistry laboratory work
